Full grids again for 2017 BTCC

Vauxhall joins makes amongst 17 teams on grid.

The will again feature a capacity 32-car grid in 2017.

Series organiser TOCA has issued the list of ‘TBLs’ (TOCA BTCC licences) which teams are required to be in possession of for each car entered.

The 32 licences consist of 30 permanently allocated to teams two retained by TOCA and loaned – in 2017 these are going to Power Maxed Racing which is bringing the Vauxhall badge back into the BTCC with a pair of current-shape Astra race cars.

There are other changes amongst the 17 teams entered in the series. Notably Motorbase Performance, which was highly competitive at the end of the 2016 season, expands from two to three Ford Focus cars. Motorbase has been loaned an extra TBL by Welch Motorsport which will not be campaigning its Proton in 2017.

At least two of the Motorbase seats are currently attractive vacancies, with 2016 driver Andrew Jordan having moved to the West Surrey Racing BMW team.

The AmD Tuning team is also expanding its Audi S3 line-up from one to two cars, having secured a second TBL.

Team BKR, which ran Volkswagen CCs in the 2016, is missing from the grid, its cars having gone to Team Hard Racing, while making a return is BTC Racing, last seen in the 2014 season. In 2017 the team will be known as BTC Norlin Racing and is expected to race with the Chevrolet Cruze cars formerly campaigned by PowerMaxed.

The 2017 BTCC begins at Brands Hatch on 2nd April, and The Executivecondominium will be reporting at every round throughout the season.
