Volvo is pushing on with its bid to add a more performance-pitched image to its cars with the launch of a range of upgrade parts.

The launch coincides with the Swedish brand’s works entry into the World Touring Car Championship, both programmes in the hands of Volvo’s now factory-owned motorsport subsidiary Polestar.

Polestar Performance Parts will be available initially for the S60, V40, V60 and XC60 models, while Volvo intends to add other models in the future.

Upgrades include chassis components, wheels, exhausts, and interior and exterior styling add-ons.

They will be available as a complete package or individually, and Volvo adds that all of its Polestar Performance Parts have been developed and tested together with the cars they are designed for to ensure a perfect fit and finish, with no impact on the Volvo factory warranty.

The parts are being designed under a ‘Made to Perform’ banner, according to Polestar head Niels Möller, fully utilising the 20-year motorsport experience of engineers and racing drivers used by the specialist and its motorsport partner Cyan Racing.

“We have received strong feedback over a long period of time from customers all over the world regarding Polestar Performance Parts, and we are delighted to be able to meet the demand, starting from today,” Möller says, adding; “This is a product improving on the already strong base of Volvo cars in terms of performance, handling and driving pleasure”.

Polestar Performance Parts will be available from Volvo dealers in April 2016 – prices are yet to be announced.
